Youtube Tuesday

Hello, welcome to youtube Tuesday :)

What a clever way to reuse a pizza box :)

I remember listening to this song on repeat when it was released :)

Dewey treasures on home ground

Dearest dewey readers,
How are you feeling today?
Hope you're enjoying the warm weather with early sunrises and longer sunsets.
There also seems to be an increasing number of brochures advertising
beautifully packaged Christmas hampers and Christmas decorations.
This week there were many voices in my mind, quite similar to the sound you hear in an assembly hall,
where people talk amongst themselves and voice their conclusions on life...a distant murmur of opinions.
In times like these, I guess I should keep reminding myself
of the one voice that really matters to me.
The voice that tells me everything will be alright in due time.
I hope you have that voice too..

Here are some photos of the Guggenheim Museum by Frank Lloyd Wright,
it has a long spiralling ramp that creates the outer skin of the building.
It starts from ground level and reaches to the skylight above,
this creates a unifying encased interior.
Mr. Wright demonstrated that technology could create intimate
and monumental spaces, similar to the Pantheon.
I remember it almost being a spiritual experience ..
I hope one day my interiors can create a similar experience to this...
Enjoy :)

Youtube Tuesday

It's Youtube Tuesday,
and I wonder what videos are waiting for us today..

This is absolutely amazing, it's a clip of how the sea sponge works and they're
apparently called the filterers of the sea. They look very dull
but they're very much alive, working very hard, constantly filtering the ocean's water..
As they inject the harmless ink next to the sponge, it quickly filters the pigment through its
thick outer skin and pumps it through the middle...so wonderful..

Frank Gehry is a genious, his instincts are so intune with this idea..
his forms express the idea ever so accurately.. ahh.. so much respect,
Note to self: need to make more models

Hope you enjoyed Youtube Tuesday :)
Place your trust in eternity and it will never fail you..

Dewey discoveries in the details

Dearest dewey readers... how was your weekend? hehe
Relaxing and quiant I hope :)

To complete a picture, I've recently noticed
that subtle details can make a big difference..

Such as, this happy red checkerboard tablecloth.
It seems to add that signature touch to the Italian restaurant..

or bright yellow joints that transform this heavy metal screen
into a delicate piece of jewellry...

or lush green vines that adorn this lovely house,
juxtaposing composite colours in real life..

and Utzon's bland round lamps... almost unnoticed during the day,
but at night provides that magical glow for our harbour..

Youtube Tuesday

This is the song "Non, je ne regrette rien" which means "No, I regret nothing".
It's sung by Edith Piaf who is wonderful French singer with a voice of great depth and emotion..
It's also featured in her biography film La Vie En Rose :)

What a glorious way to feast and fill your tummies :)
'Under the Tuscan Sun'

Hope you enjoyed Youtube Tuesday,
I promise to steer away from Italian songs for the next few posts...
hehe... well, I will try... :P

Dewey discoveres on Mudies

A small path that's possibly a secret shortcut route,
yet to be discovered by kids running late for school...

"Make way Mr shrub. For it is I, Mr letterbox!" hehe

I have a feeling this house has a wonderful workshop hidden behind those doors...
Everytime I walk past the grandpa seems to be hammering or sawing away at something,
I'm yet to witness his creations :)

Dear readers, a new week has started and your deweys are awaiting you.
Hope you have a wonderful week discovering them :)

Dewey assurance

Sydney Pollack: "Is starting hard?"

Frank Gehry: "You know it is..I don't know what you do when you start, but I clean my desk, I make a lot of stupid appointments that I make sound important.. avoidance, delay, denial.  I'm always scared that I'm not going to know what to do; it's a terrifying moment.. And then, when I start.. I'm always amazed...and think... oh, that that wasn't so bad.."

Dewey discoveries of light and some still getting there

The light series from Douglas, Kenthurst, Memorial & Toolang...

The sun's rays seem softer and longer at sun set.
It almost meanders through branches and leaves,
making intriguing colours and patterns on the ground.. :)

Hope you're weeks have been going well.. :)

Deweys; appreciating nature

Dearest internet musketeers, how do you do :)
hoping your week is progressing well despite fluctuating electricity waves...
The last two weeks have been a whirlwind for me
and for the first time I saw the world as a fast paced machine
running on an everlasting battery.
Starting work and being on the move is a new experience for me,
and I get very exhausted as soon as I get home.
As a result not having the leisure to reflect or ponder on things as much as I'd like to.
But I do hope I don't get exhausted too quickly and can still maintain
the mindset to discover deweys in different chapters... :)
-----------------------------------------

In efforts to keep our family more bonded, mum suggests we bushwalk every weekend,
but I do get quite reluctant as our family isn't very friendly, especially in the mornings..
But after each walk I'm so glad we went, because we always feel refreshed and wholesome
So I'm very thankful for nature, for God creating trees, streams and flowers for us
to appreciate its beauty and regain our strength.
I encourage you to also take a walk close to undisturbed nature,
as Frank Lloyd Wright once said...
'Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.'

Here are some photos... enjoy :)

Lastly, here's a (delayed) Youtube Tuesday clip, may it kindle
an Italian spark in you :)

Have a lovely week :)

Dewey Spring + Youtube Tuesday

Hello dear readers
What a glorious day, isn't it just a beautiful day?
It's one of those days when the sun is brightly shining
and the air feels dreamy all round.
I implore you to search for your dewey-beauty today,
it's bound to be hiding somewhere :)
It's been an overwhelming week for me,
I feel like my emotions have been to the other side of the world and back,
But I guess life continues relentlessly and
each day should be seen as a new gift.

It's already the first day of spring 2010,
the flowers are starting to bloom beautifully,
so here are photos of those singing flowers, enjoy~ :)

And lastly, here's a cute (delayed) youtube tuesday clip just for you~
